Half Day trips are approximately four hours of fishing for up to two anglers. This is a great option for people that are wanting to learn how to fly fish or looking for a shorter option. Half Day trips start in the morning with departure times between 8am-9am and return times to Spear-O-Wigwam between 12pm-1pm. Afternoon trips will depart for the water between 1pm-2pm and return around 5pm-6pm.
All Day trips include options for both fly-fishing with horse-back riding. All day trips are available for both Spear-O guests, as well as individuals not staying at the ranch. For guests, all day options will depart after lodge breakfast, while trips for non-guests will be determined between those individuals and the fishing guide. A sack lunch for everyone will be sent out with the guide. Trips will conclude by dinner time so guests can return for the lodge dinner services. Day ride packages are available for all day trips only. Drift boat trips are available for half days and all-day trips on Park Reservoir. This is your opportunity to take horses and mules into the depths of the Cloud Peak Wilderness to chase trophy-sized Brook Trout, Rainbow Trout, Yellowstone Cutthroat Trout, Brown Trout, Tiger Trout, Lake Trout, and elusive Golden Trout. Customized trips follow a similar schedule weather permitting. On day one, we ride to our basecamp deep in the Bighorn Mountains where our wrangler will drop you and your guide off with all the necessary equipment to camp and fish. From basecamp, we will do day hikes to high alpine lakes to fish for a multitude of species. The last and final day the wrangler will meet us at basecamp to pack up our equipment, where we then will ride together back to Spear-O-Wigwam. It is highly recommended that you commit to at least two to three days of guided fly-fishing. This allows us to account for the risk of bad mountain weather that would keep us sheltered in our tents at camp. This package eliminates the difficulty of hiking with heavy backpacks and instead allows us to use quality horses and mules to get deep into the Cloud Peak Wilderness.

Starting $640 per day for up to three anglers. Each additional angler will be charged $250 per day. Equipment can be rented at an additional cost.
Meet our Guide
Seth Carrel grew up in Sheridan, Wyoming roaming around in the Bighorn Mountains. Seth’s obsession with the ecosystem and environment that sits directly above Spear-O-Wigwam, i.e. the Cloud Peak Wilderness, sparked his passion for the outdoors and fly fishing.
Seth got his Bachelor’s Degree in Fish & Wildlife Management and Ecology with a focus on fisheries from Montana State University in 2017. Seth spent three field seasons as a fisheries technician for the Wyoming Game and Fish, with one season spent in Green River, Wyoming and two in the Sheridan Region. During these field seasons, Seth would survey the high alpine lakes in the Cloud Peak Wilderness where he fully discovered the caliber of fish in these waters.
Since 2018, Seth has been at the Fly Shop of the Bighorns as an assistant manager and guide, teaching the art of fly fishing to clients during the summer months. In 2023, Seth became a full time team member at Spear-O.

Rates & Gratuity
Cash is recommended and gratuity is expected. 20% gratuity is recommended for wranglers and guides.
Licenses
All those who plan on fishing must have a Wyoming Fishing License per Wyoming State Law. Licenses MUST be purchased prior to arriving at Spear-O. We cannot sell licenses and do not have internet at the lodge. Licenses can be purchased here
